Financial modelling for environmental business plan
The client, a public sector grant awarding body, commissioned Business Plan Services to undertake process and business modeling for a glass recycling company to confirm the viability of its methodology as specified in its business plan.
Support was sought to test the outcomes of modifying a range of process variables and to establish the potential economics of the business. The project was undertaken in 3 phases:
1. Process modeling involving the creation of a computer–based model of the principal processes.
2. Simulation of the likely process outcomes of a range of operating variables in order to limit the need for physical experimentation and to establish the optimum process conditions.
3 Business modeling involving the creation of a computer-based, simple profit/loss business model to establish the economics of alternative process routes and to test the economic impact of modifying process variables.
The project was undertaken over a 2 month timeframe and culminated in Business Plan Services' report and presentation of its findings from 1-3 above.
